Returns & Exchanges - In Store

- A receipt is REQUIRED for all returns and exchanges.
- Our general policy is to refund within 10 days of purchase. We provide a store credit within 11-30 days of purchase.

- There are no returns on installed or customized items.
- Bicycle returns are subject to a restocking fee of 15%, Minimum $50. This covers the labour to register, assemble, prep, then un-do all these steps to make the bike re-saleable. The bike must be in the condition it left the store in.
- All packaging and products must be in re-saleable condition. We reserve the right to refuse a return if we can not easily return it to the same condition it sold in.
- No refunds on payments or deposits.

- Specially ordered items are not returnable under any circumstances.

Complimentary Bicycle Service Plan
Every bicycle sold at The Brantford Cyclepath comes with a complimentary 2-year service plan. This includes two Annual Tune-Ups, free minor adjustments and covers labour on manufacturer’s defect warranties. This plan expires 2 years from the purchase date. There are no extensions and it is not transferrable. No exceptions. 

Minor adjustments are considered items that take no more than 5-10 minutes to resolve. We do what we can, as efficiently as we can.

When you bought your bicycle, we put your receipt into our "Red Slip".  Please bring this with you when you come in for any warranty work. Thank-you.

Test Ride Policy
Until COVID-19 allows for greater latitude, test rides are not allowed.

Bicycle Warranty in Brief
Excellent customer service ranks very high on our priority list. We attend to warranty issues subject to manufacturers/suppliers conditions and procedures. Warranties specifically cover manufacturers’ defects in materials and craftsmanship. It is important to note the difference between a warrantable defect and user abuse or damage. Abuse, accidental damage and normal wear and tear are not covered under any warranty. 

There is no warranty for tires, tubes, chains, cassettes, cables, brake pads, grips, saddles, brake rotors, bearings, spokes or derailleur hangers. These items can and do wear out or break with normal bicycle use and should be replaced when necessary.

There is no warranty for components that fail due to crash damage, excessive wear, extreme distance, abuse, mis-use or misadventure.

Tire and/or tube punctures / flats are unforeseeable and a normal part of bike riding and are not covered in any way.

If anybody other than staff in our service department installs, adjusts, changes or removes components during the 2-year period, the warranty may be void in part or in full. Labour to re-assemble or re-adjust tinkered-with components is not covered. Components that customers install themselves are at risk of voided warranties. We recommend having us install all components and pay appropriate labour to do so.

In-Store Pickup

Most orders will be ready within one business day. Please keep in mind that some items may require additional processing time to transfer from off-site locations. Other items may require additional processing time for assembly. We will call or email you once your order is ready for pickup. If you need an item right away we ask that you call us to confirm that the product is available before heading over to our store. Unless special arrangements are made in advance, orders need to be picked up within 15 days or a 10% restocking fee will be charged.

Ground shipping available for apparel and equipment.

*Orders under $49.99 have a base shipping rate of $16.99 in Ontario, Canada.  (*There may be extra charges added for larger and/or heavier items)

*Orders between $50 and $249.99 have a base shipping rate of $13.99 in Ontario, Canada.  (*There may be extra charges added for larger and/or heavier items)

*Free ground shipping for purchases over $250. in Ontario, Canada. (*There may be extra charges added for larger and/or heavier items)

We do not ship bicycles. In-store pickup only.

Note: Orders usually ship within 1-2 business day of being placed, as long as everything is in stock. If we have to special order anything, we are at the mercy of receiving these items first, (We will not ship partial orders). We will send you tracking information for your package.

Please note that some items may be subject to additional shipping and handling charges because of size or weight.

We do not take responsibility for items stolen from your delivery address. Please be sure to have an appropriately secure location.

Orders outside Ontario will have shipping costs added.

We do not air-freight any order.

We do not ship outside Canada.

On-Line Returns

Within 10 days of receiving a shipment, if there’s a problem with something you purchased from us, you can either bring it to our store or ship it back. We will refund shipping costs on damaged or incorrect merchandise only. The customer is responsible for shipping costs for all other returns. Merchandise returned that is not in the same condition it was shipped in, (i.e. used or installed) is not returnable. Labour fees are not refundable. We reserve the right to inspect all returned items before issuing any return credit.

For returns over $100, please contact us for a return authorization number. This number needs to be clearly marked on the outside of the package or the item will be refused.

Warranties - Full Text

Manufacturers’ warranties do vary but in general terms unless specified to the contrary, are as follows;

Warranties apply only to the original purchaser and are not transferrable.

The manufacturer/supplier has the last word on what is deemed a warranty. Products deemed to not be covered by a warranty are not the responsibility of The Brantford Cyclepath.

ABUSE, ACCIDENTS and INCIDENTS are NOT DEFECTS. Abused or damaged items are NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY. No bicycle or component is indestructible, regardless of what it is built for. It is the customers’ responsibility for damage due to riding style, technique, lack of maintenance, environment or weather.

BICYCLE FRAME: Every brand has a specific policy for frames. Consult the brand booklet or website for details.

DERAILLEUR HANGERS: Replaceable derailleur hangers ARE NOT covered under any warranty. These are designed to fail in the event of an impact. This is to try to save the derailleur and frame from damage.

BICYCLE COMPONENTS: All components on bikes have the same warranties as if they were sold separately. Some components make noise when performing properly. Weather and moisture has a lot to do with component noise. See PARTS and ACCESSORIES section below.

SERVICE: Minor adjustments and labour on warranty claims for bicycles is covered for a maximum of 2 years from date of purchase by The Brantford Cyclepath. Defective items are repaired or replaced at the suppliers’ discretion. Bicycles come with 2 tune-ups, the first is required within 12 months to qualify for the 2nd year service. Labour to eliminate noises or to modify components are not covered under the service plan. Some chargeable parts may be required. Minor adjustments are typically considered, but not necessarily limited to brake and gear adjustments.

WARRANTY STATUS: Status will be determined from the manufacturer/supplier before work commences. If the claim needs to be rushed, labour and components will be charged out, then credited or refunded if/when accepted as a warranty. Warranties often take some time to complete. Patience is appreciated.

PARTS and ACCESSORIES: Most parts and accessories are warranted to be free of defects for 1 year from purchase. Defective items will be repaired, assembled or replaced at the supplier’s discretion. Warranties on components purchased at, but not installed or adjusted by our qualified technicians will be void, and are not returnable under any circumstances. Manufacturer/suppliers will have more details on their web-sites.

WARRANTY EXCEPTIONS: There is no warranty for tires, chains, cassettes, cables, brake pads, grips, saddles, spokes, brake rotors or bearings. These items wear out and/or break with normal use. Replace them when required.  There is no warranty for components we didn't install.

CLOTHING and HELMETS: Repaired or replaced at the suppliers’ discretion. Used helmets and clothing are not returnable. Returned clothing must have all the original tags attached or they will be considered used.

LABOUR: Charged labour services are covered for 10 days from completion.

SHIPPING: Costs incurred shipping any warranty items to-or-from a supplier will be charged to the customer.

We protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts all of the information you provide to us and prevents outside parties from being able to "see" your transaction information. When your account information is displayed on your screen.

We sometimes use other companies (third-party service providers) to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include fulfilling orders and delivering packages. They need access to some personal information in order to perform their duties but may not use this information for other purposes.
