Wheels

$1,350.00
When we set out to create a wheelset built purely for speed, we wanted to make it more than just fast. Not that being fast wasn't a priority, but we were tired of wheels that only performed well in a straight line. In the end, we developed the CLX 64, the fastest wheel that we've ever tested. Not only is it the fastest in the tunnel, but its prestige has been verified with Gold Medals in the men's road race, time trial, and team time trial at the 2016 UCI World Championships. One of the first questions we get about the CLX 64 is, "Why 64mm instead of 65mm?" To put it simply, it's because 64mm simply tested faster than 65mm. One millimeter, that's how deep our testing goes. Having an in-house wind tunnel allows us to run every possible variation, and after two years of development, 80 variations in rim design, and nearly 300 hours studying tire and frame interactions in the Win Tunnel, we found 64mm to be the fastest iteration for normal riding conditions. In fact, it's even faster than the 80-plus-millimeter-deep wheels they were tested against. Being able to use a shape that's nearly 20mm shallower than the competition, yet just as low in drag, makes for a wheel that has drastically less side force and steering torque. This translates to less buffeting and more confidence in even the gustiest winds. Another positive of a shallower rim depth is the reduction in weight that follows using less material. Many deep carbon wheels feel "slow" due to their high inertia value. What's that? Inertia is the amount of force it takes to accelerate or decelerate, and wheels that are built around heavier rims lack the liveliness that many riders crave. Being over a half-a-pound lighter than the other wheels in its aero category, the CLX 64 accelerates, decelerates, and changes direction with less effort. The rim is not the only component of the CLX 64 that contributes to its aero prowess though, in order to create the fastest wheels, we focused on the wheels as a system, not just a rim with "other parts," and our Aero Flange (AF) hubs play a significant role. Designed completely in the Win Tunnel, our AF hubs feature an incredibly small frontal aero, without sacrificing stiffness, making them aerodynamically efficient. Taking the advantage a step further, these wheels were developed to work in harmony with modern-width 24C tires. The 21mm internal rim width spreads the tire out, in this case to 26C, making it seamlessly meet the rim. Not only does this create a system with low aerodynamic drag, but one that has exceptionally low rolling resistance and inspiring grip in the corners. And to make sure we checked all of the feature boxes, we also made the rim tubeless-ready. To top off the multitude of performance features of the rim, we chose the highest quality build components to pair the CLX 64 front with. Starting with DT Swiss Aerolite bladed spokes, which test faster than their round counterparts in the Win Tunnel, we hand-laced the 64 rim to our AF hubs that house CeramicSpeed's legendary bearings. Why hand-built? Machines make mistakes and mistakes aren't something we're ok with, so we have real people lace each wheel by hand. - Assembly Method: Hand-built - Brake Track Height: 12mm - Braking Surface: Carbon fiber - Extras: Roval padded wheelbag, Roval steel quick-release, Roval tubeless plugs and tubeless valve, SwissStop Black Prince brake pads - Front Hub: Roval AF1, CeramicSpeed bearings - Nipple Type: DT Swiss Pro Lock hexagonal - Rim Depth: 64mm - Rim Material: Carbon - Rim Type: Carbon clincher, 2Bliss Ready - Rim Width: 20.7mm internal, 29.9mm external - Spoke Count: 16 - Spoke Pattern: Radial - Spoke Type: DT Swiss Aerolite T-head - Weight: 695g

E-bikes add to the riding experience by simply providing more for less. More distance, more laps, more climbs, and more descents. With all those "mores" also comes more weight continually bashing on the components of an e-bike. In order to overcome the increased forces induced by the technological progression of modern e-bikes, we designed our HTZ rims with more material in every area of the rim prole. Every wall of the rim is 25-30% thicker in comparison to those on our standard rims, which we then paired with our proven I-Beam center support to ensure no beating was too great for these rims. All HTZ rims are TCS 2.0 tubeless, feature asymmetrical spoke drilling, and are available in widths ranging from i23 to i35 in order to provide options for e-bikes ranging from e-assist gravel bikes to dual-crown downhill bikes that no longer need a truck to be shuttled. FEATURES: - Capable of withstanding the forces of a modern e-bike. - 4D angled spoke drilling eliminates binding and lateral loading and disperses tension more evenly over a greater area. - Symmetric outer profile provides equal dissipation of impact forces on both sides of the rim while asymmetric spoke hole drilling allows for more even spoke tension and increased wheel strength. - Disc-brake only. - TCS 2.0 Tubeless ready and comes with a preinstalled Solid Strip, which lies beneath the tubeless tape and prevents sagging at the spoke holes, creating a smooth interface between the rim and tire bead. This prevents air from escaping around the bead and therefore requires less air volume and pressure to mount a tire. Solid Strip also protects the airtight tubeless system from being punctured in the case of a broken spoke. TCS 2.0 creates a more robust, easily installed, and dependable tubeless system. USAGE: E-bike

Trail wheels often fall into two categories—they're either heavy and durable or light and flexy. And because of this, a lightweight, wide-profile, and enduro-ready carbon wheel seems like something only found in a fairytale, but lucky for you, we made it a reality. The Traverse SL Fattie 27.5 puts all the flickable, nimble features you need in an all-mountain wheel into one package, and it has the results to prove it. Along with light overall weight, stiffness, and durability, another top priority for the Traverse SL was ease of use. First off, we got rid of the creaky straight-pull spokes and corrosion-prone alloy nipples. Next up, we landed on 28 J-bend spokes, for both the front and rear wheels, that are all the same length—making it easy to find replacements if needed. And finally, we engineered a new hub design, with a wider profile and higher flange to aid in overall stiffness. What's with the big-boned name, you ask? The Traverse SL Fatties may be wide, but with a 30mm inner rim width, they're far from the girth of a fat bike rim. But let's talk width. You've probably noticed that mountain bike rim widths have hovered between 19 and 23 millimeters for decades, and they've been long overdue for a change. In the search for a better wheel design, our engineers began testing 2.3- to 2.5-inch tires on 45-millimeter-wide fat bike rims to see what, if any, benefits could be found. It only took them a few rides to realize that the wider rims offered a variety of advantages, like adding additional tire volume, which better supports the tires in hard cornering, greatly improves traction because of the ability to run lower pressures, and noticeably increases rim stiffness. They did note that there is an occurrence of diminishing returns with increasing width, however, and after testing everything from 25 to 45mm, determined that a 30mm inner width is optimal. After determining the width, we began designing the rim using the knowledge that we gained when developing the Control SL. With this, we started with our Zero Bead Hook technology that gets rid of the weak spot found in a traditional wheel, and combined it with the wider profile to make a carbon rim that effectively dissipates forces. This way, you can take abuse from rocks without the worry of cracks or dents. Ok, so they're strong, impact-resistant, and tire supporting-they must be heavy, right? Wrong. Even though "fattie"? is in their name, they're far from fat. To achieve this weight, we hand-build our rims to our own alloy hubs, using only the highest quality DT Swiss Competition Race spokes. Inside our hubs, you'll find DT Swiss 240 internals with a quick engaging 54t DT Swiss star ratchet system in the rear that allows you to power over rocks and roots without delay. And while machines do a pretty good job of building wheels, we choose professionally trained humans because they do so with an artistic touch that makes for minimal flaws. Whether you need a carbon wheelset to get you through an enduro stage or one to shred your local rock garden, the Traverse SL Fattie has you covered. - Assembly Method: Hand-built - Bearing Type: Sealed cartridge - Every wheel includes tubeless valve stems in order to make tubeless set-up a touch easier. - Front Hub: Alloy body, 15mmx110 thru-axle, 19 and 31mm OD end cap options included. - Front Spoke Pattern: Two-cross - Nipple Type: DT Swiss Brass Pro Lock hexagonal - Rim Material: Carbon fiber - Rim Type: Carbon clincher, 2Bliss Ready, Zero Bead Hook design. Zipp's 3ZERO MOTO carbon 27.5 and 29 enduro/trail wheelset is inspired by moto to provide riders with the control and durability required for pure trail speed. This wheelset and its MOTO Technology have already been proven by multiple victories in the Enduro World Series with our pioneering partnership with the Lapierre Zipp Collective. While other wheel brands limit their focus to traditional box-section rim designs, Zipp engineers—uninhibited by legacy technology—took a different approach. They looked to motorsports as a model. Zipp's Moto Technology's single-wall rim is the optimal approach for an enduro/trail wheelset. The resulting rim provides something we call "ankle compliance." Imagine a runner rounding a sharp turn, the ankle naturally flexing to maintain grip as the runner leans. The 3ZERO rim can locally flex to stay parallel to the ground during cornering, increasing traction like a human ankle adjusts while running. This ability to twist locally allows it to deflect during single bead impacts without the rider getting bounced offline. 3ZERO MOTO helps you take the most direct route, saving seconds when and where they count most. At the center of the 3ZERO MOTO is the ZM2 hubset. This German-engineered hubset features improved seal design for better durability on rough terrain. Quarq's TireWiz is an add-on option for 3ZERO to dial in your pressure for an even more compliant ride. - Higher impact resistance - Reduced chance of pinch flatting - More traction in rough corners - Smoother ride in rocky terrain - Ability to run lower tire pressure - Reduced rider fatigue - Frustration-free tire installation - Rim is designed for compliance, creating the feel of extra suspension - Lifetime Warranty
