Specialized

SpecializedSpecialized Bicycle Components was formed in 1974 as a bike parts importer when founder Mike Sinyard discovered a need for an easier way to obtain Italian cycling components. Their first manufactured product was the Turbo road tire in 1976. Specialized’s claim to fame is that in 1981, they were the very first company to offer a factory manufactured mountain bike that could be afforded by the common man. An example of their first Stumpjumper is displayed in the Smithsonian Institute. Specialized have become a world leader in bicycle science, manufacturing, and innovation.  They have pioneered the Body Geometry fit and comfort design and manufacturing philosophy which has improved the comfort and performance for cyclists of every discipline.
Specialized sponsor professional racers in just about every aspect of the sport. Top awards (The UCI Rainbow jersey) have been won by a Specialized sponsored rider in Road Race, Time Trial, Mountain Bike Cross Country, and Mountain Bike Downhill in the last 3 years, along with many other titles.  The very first UCI Mountain Bike Championship was won in 1990 by Ned Overend atop his Specialized Stumpjumper. They make many famous bikes such as the Tarmac, Roubaix, Allez, Tri-Cross, Langster Fixie, Secteur, Rockhopper, Hardrock, Crossroads, Stumpjumper, S-Works, and their Globe line of commuter and comfort bikes.

Introducing Cannondale (New January 2011)

Cannondale

Cannondale has come a long way since its birth in a crowded loft above a pickle factory in 1971, when it introduced the cycling industry's first bicycle trailer. The company (named after the train station across the road) grew quickly during its early years, adding cycling apparel and accessory lines along the way while also earning a strong reputation for innovation and quality. That reputation proved invaluable when Cannondale introduced its first bicycle, a touring model, in 1983, followed by a road racing model and a mountain bike model in 1984. Cannondale raised the cycling world's eyebrows by equipping their bicycles with handcrafted aluminum frames that were both lighter and more flex-resistant than the steel models that dominated the industry at the time. Cannondale's reputation encouraged both bike dealers and customers to give the bicycles a try, and widespread industry skepticism quickly gave way to a host of imitators. Today Cannondale is headquartered in Bethel, Connecticut and is widely regarded as the bike industry's leading innovator.

GT

GTGT Bicycles (Gary Turner) began in 1972. They are most noted for their huge contribution to the sport of BMX. Gary Turner developed a flex free BMX racing frame that offered greater power transfer out of the starting gate than other frames of the time. He also developed the most popular “pro” sized bar of the BMX explosion of the 1980s. If you were a BMXer who knew his stuff, chances were that you were running a GT handlebar.
It wasn’t long before Gary branched into mountain bikes. GT mountain bikes have a legendary following. Their triple triangle frame design and short top tube length give these bikes incredible handling traits when the trail turns technical. Nasty trails aren’t a problem for a GT. One of the best climbing bikes out there.
GT’s factory teams were an unstoppable force in both BMX and mountain biking during the 1980's and 1990's.

FIT BIKE

FitBikeCo

BMX changed in 2000. Riders got more into style than tricks. BMX became a lifestyle and from S&M Bikes, FIT was born. S&M Bikes was the old-school “Hesh” brand – raised in the So Cal dirt. FIT was BMX’s new-school “Fresh” brand – straight from the streets and trails everywhere.  FIT offered high-end frames as well as rider-designed complete bikes. With a clean look, an innovative team and products that were up to S&M quality standards, FIT became one of the best brands in the sport.  Bike shops and riders around the world now recognize FIT Bike Co. as a brand that helped push BMX into the new century, and make it the sport we love today.

Haro

HaroWhere would we be without Bob Haro? Haro started in 1978. Bob was a California kid with a flair for drawing. During the early days of BMX, Bob would spend time at the track. He noticed that the paper plate number plates with magic markered numbers weren’t that appealing. Bob grabbed sheets of contact paper and hand drew fancy custom face plates to stick to the front of the paper plates. He took them to the track and sold them all. It wasn’t long before he was having plastic number plates manufactured.
Bob wasn’t much interested in the racing side of BMX and began doing tricks on his BMX bike instead. It’s fairly safe to say that Bob Haro singlehandedly invented the sport of freestyle BMX.

Eastern

When you love BMX  with all your heart it’s something that just stays with you your whole life.Eastern Just ask Eastern Bikes' Jon Byers and Mike Corley. These two have been involved with BMX  for most of their lives, so starting a BMX  company just made sense. It all began with a frame that Mike hand made in his garage out of frustration with other bikes breaking on him. From there he and Jon started Eastern Bikes in 1996 and went on to make high quality frames and a few components. In 2000 they ventured into the complete bikes market. This was a huge undertaking that neither one of them had a clue about. They knew what it took to make a complete bike that would stand up to today’s riding and forged ahead until they had exactly what they wanted. Ten years later Eastern Bikes have blossomed into some of the most innovative and popular complete bikes on the market. With a solid BMX  team, an incredible sales force and the true love of BMX, Eastern Bikes will continue to do what they know and love.

Nitrous(By Eastern)
NitrousThink of Nitrous as Eastern’s little brother. BMX can be an expensive sport, and there’s plenty of kids out there that can’t afford the latest this and the greatest. Everyone at Eastern was a kid like that at some point in time. They felt there is a need for more affordable products that look cool and are functional.
